Buddy Lessons:

Our program also offers the option of small group lessons for students.  This is an option that reduces costs for families and also provides and opportunity for students to learn side by side in a peer supported environment.  Lessons are given for groups of like instruments and students of similar ability levels.

Fees are as follows:

  • One 45 minute lesson consisting of two students - $25.00 per student
  • One 45 minute lesson consisting of three students - $20.00 per student

Switch-hitters:

This is a unique opportunity for violin students to also learn the viola in addition to the violin.  In many instances, students who learn the viola are able to take advantage of scholarship opportunities with youth orchestra programs and summer camps as well as colleges and universities. Students can have an additional lesson per week or arrange with Ms. John and Dr. Hinkie to switch off lessons every so often to explore the viola as well as the violin. Regular lesson fees apply for viola lessons that are given in addition to violin lessons.

Chamber music classes:

Chamber Music America, the national service organization for chamber music, describes chamber music as music played with one person on a part with no conductor.  This can be one of the most beneficial experiences that a music student can ever have.  Playing chamber music combines the skills of playing in an ensemble with the skills of playing solo literature.  Chamber music playing is the missing link in music education that all students should experience at one point in time or another.  If you are interested in exploring this option, speak directly with Ms. John or Dr. Hinkie about how to form a group with your peers and how to set up coachings.

Fees:

$60.00 per hour, per group, the group splits the fee.
